Don't throw away those old satin covered Styrofoam Christmas assurance. They tin can be recycled into beautiful ornaments. You tin use joint compound on them and make 'snowballs'. Yous can decouapge tissue paper on to them and use every bit an ornament...any color or mulitiple colors. You lot can go to google.com and blazon in 'styrofoam ball ornaments' and get lots of hits.

My Mom and friends and I also fabricated the patchwork and decoupage ornaments mentioned above and I nevertheless have them after all these years and treasure them. Try em.
Y'all can also poke two tiny holes in an egg and blow out the yolk and use them the same way. (have to wash them out and practise this before the kids for safety).
Some other cute idea for the styrofoam is to make Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus faces using red felt and cotton . YOu can paint or draw or decoupage the facial features and add wire rim glasses. Or, you could stack them and make snowmen and women. Add popsicle sticks to the bottom for skis. Cloth for scarves. Dip in white glitter for that frosty look. etc.

ive got one i made a few years agone using mini marshmallows, carmine sequins and straight pins. put a sequin on a straight pin, button it through the finish of a marshmallow, and stick it in your styrofoam.
once you cover it completely, you can utilise another pin to attach some ribbon or string to hang it. they concluding for much longer then you'd await also.

I have one that uses pins thru little plastic beads. and on the elevation is a "scene" glued on, with plastic animals and copse.
I would but utilize the beads* in different colors making designs - make a ring, two-3 chaplet wide, effectually the heart in 1 color, apply another color next to it on both height and bottom. Use the showtime color, so the 2d, alternating til the ball is covered.
Make bands in a zigzag /\/\/\/\ as with the rings
Place circles [similar polka dots] around the ball, so fill up in with a background color.
Make whatever design you want, and fill in the groundwork.
You can make the colors, and designs, you want, and they'll last for years.
You can cover the ball with sequins and either large beads in place of the marshmallows, or small-scale beads in the center of the sequin, Either in the same color or a dissimilar colour.
*Use sequins to make your patterns, in identify of the beads, it will be cheaper.

This is my favorite hobby. I have containers of sequins and beads that are organized by color and size. I accept erstwhile costume jewelry apart, and utilise the big jewels, etc. for the "heart" of the decoration. I also find everyday "junk", spray pigment it a vibrant color, and tack it on. (such equally old keys). I hope this helped!

I am wanting to brand a Christmas ornament by using left over scrapbook newspaper scraps (punched blossom) attached to a Styrofoam ball. What is the best fashion to get in stick, using what glue or fifty-fifty mod podge? I have used a pin in the centre, but the edges stick up. Please advise.

I have had skillful results in all sorts of applications with Acrylic Matte Medium. I imagine that a hot gum gun would work besides.
styrofoam is catchy because sure glues will sort of melt it off, for instance superglue is not great
try the matte medium, peculiarly information technology can be brushed over the ornament after it's all put on and information technology will give it a layer

I take been working with Styrofoam balls making Christmas ornaments with sequins.
My problem is the straight pins. I have been unable to discover any pins with a large enough head to keep the sequins in place. They (the heads) are all dissimilar sizes even from the same package.
Somewhere I saw that y'all could use gum. What kind of mucilage is prophylactic for Styrofoam? As yous can see, I am a novice at this, but I am enjoying it! Thank you lot.

Tacky glue is good. Only you can detect large headed pins by going to a local craft store. Ask them for tailors pins, which are larger. I hope that helps. PBP
